The Grand Canyon | 7 Spectacular Natural Wonders of the World

The Grand Canyon

The 277-mile long Canyon was carved out of the rock by three of the best artists known to man: Time, water and erosion. The Colorado River cut through the rocks for 17 million years widening the swath from 4 to 18 miles, while the depth of the Canyon is over a mile. Although it is not the deepest or longest canyon in the world, it is certainly the most spectacular due to the combination of the overall scale and size along with the beautifully colored landscape. The Native Americans that inhabited the area, considered the canyon a holy site, and one Spanish priest trying to convert a tribe living in the area in 1776 described it as “profound”.
